Beginning Yoga - For those brand new to yoga. Curious, but are feeling unsure about how to practice the poses and breathing or how to learn to sit quietly and calm your mind? Here, you will learn the basics of the standing, reclining and seated poses and learn how to practice for strength, balance, and flexibility. Students need to be able to hold your body weight on hands and knees.
Level I - For students with some yoga experience, but maybe it’s been awhile, you want a refresher or simply prefer a Level I practice. This class provides you with essentials in postures and breathing techniques that pave a solid foundation of practice while building flexibility and strength. You’re confidence and enjoyment of practice will blossom here.
Level II - Build confidence and skill, while expanding your knowledge of yoga and your practice. Explore more challenging poses and sequences. The pace of the class may vary depending on the teacher. Great for those with a regular yoga practice and anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle. You will be challenged and supported.
Prenatal - For expecting mothers. You will support yourself physically, emotionally and mentally through the stages of pregnancy in a peaceful and nurturing environment. Learn ways to ease common challenges associated with pregnancy, such as digestion, aches and pains, and sleep. You will improve circulation, strengthen your uterus and pelvic muscles, and increase your confidence and joy during the beautiful process of pregnancy and birth.
Restorative For students of all levels who wish to relieve tension, release toxins and relax deeply. Restorative Yoga is good for conditions ranging from insomnia to chronic pain to asthma to depression. This class utilizes props like blankets and bolsters to support the body. The mind will become quiet, the body will balance and you will feel a greater sense of well-being and relaxation overall.
The 5 Tibetans or Tibetan Yoga
Vinyasa Flow - Moderately paced class that links breath to a series of movements. All Vinyasa Flow classes unite body, breath and mind, which helps you build strength, flexibility and awareness.
iRest Yoga Nidra iRest Yoga Nidra is a proven meditation practice for deep relaxation and healing developed by Richard Miller PhD. It has now been proven to alleviate symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress, as well as help with chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression, recovery and illness. It is suitable for all abilities.
Lunchtime Meditation Every Friday you will be invited to explore a new practice or cultivate deeper awareness of a practice you are already familiar with. Examples of practices that may be offered are Mindfulness of Breathing, Loving-Kindness, Forgiveness, Insight, Body Scan, Mindfulness of Eating, Walking Meditation, and others. Suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners.
Meditation Tuesday nights you are invited to join us for Mindfulness of Breathing and Loving-Kindness Meditations, in rotation. Learn the basics of both meditation practices that will serve to anchor and support you in life. Information will also be provided on how to set up and sustain a home practice. The studio provides zafus (meditation cushions) and comfortable chairs (for those who choose not to sit on the floor). You are also welcome to bring your own cushion. Following the sitting period, there will be tea in the Boutique and community discussion should you wish to stay.
KIDS & TEENS
Kids Yoga Children will become more confident, balanced, happy and healthy in this engaging yoga class. Plenty of music, songs, games, stories, relaxation, art and dynamic movement that promotes greater body-mind awareness…and fun!
