iRest Yoga Nidra
iRest Yoga Nidra is a modernized form of the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra. It has evolved to be an evidence based, mind-body approach to health, healing and well-being. Most often practiced lying down or sitting comfortably, this practice is accessible to all regardless of ability or state of health.
iRest Yoga Nidra is a transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry that:
- releases negative emotions and thought patterns
- calms the nervous system
- develops a deep capacity to meet any and all circumstances you may encounter in life
The benefits of iRest are cumulative and accrue from the first session.
“iRest is a profound tool which can enhance any therapy. My hope is that anyone struggling with his or her own life challenges, or searching for deeper meaning in life, will have the same opportunity to experience this life-giving practice as I have.”
- Michael, Cancer Survivor
Research is showing that mindfulness-based practices, such as iRest, are analogous to neural training regimens. These practices are especially effective as they appear to target brain plasticity in the areas of sensory, motor and limbic and prefrontal cortical functioning. These neural pathways are critical to fostering emotional self-regulation, ethical decision-making, resiliency, enhancement of cognitive and emotional skills, and development of empathy and well-being.
iRest Yoga Nidra is the result of over thirty years of observation, research and hands-on development by Dr. Richard Miller. For more information visit the Integrative Restoration Institute. Samantha Kinkaid works closely with Dr. Miller and leads the iRest program at Yoga Everyone.
“iRest has added a tremendous amount of calm to my life.
I use it to manage the daily pain caused by migraines
and to find peace in the midst of stress and anxiety.”
